If you live in an area that experiences frequent and/or heavy snowfall, a snowplow attachment can make your life so much easier. However, as with any piece of equipment, there are certain safety procedures that you need to follow. Here at Crownstone Equipment, customer safety is always top priority. That’s why we have created this snowplow road safety guide.

Operator Tips

If you’re the one behind the wheel, it’s important that you dress warmly. Excessive cold can sap your concentration, making it more likely that you will make a mistake or miss something important. Staying aware of your surroundings while operating a vehicle is important no matter the time of year, and it’s especially important when conditions take a turn for the worse. Beware of reduced visibility, and don’t be afraid to reduce your speed when necessary. In some cases you might need to make yourself more visible to other drivers by using your lights. Finally, don’t forget to pack emergency supplies.

Motorist Tips

If conditions are bad enough in your area that you’re using a snowplow, it’s likely that others will be using one as well. When you’re on the road and you see a snowplow, always give them some extra space and slow down if necessary. This added safety cushion will help keep both of you safe. If you’re driving on a street without a lot of extra room, consider pulling over to let the other snowplow pass.
