Gerald Robinson - Employee Spotlight October 2024
For the month of October, we shine our Employee Spotlight on Crownstone Equipment’s Corporate Rental Manager, Gerald Robinson. Gerald oversees the rental division at our branches. He is responsible for supporting our Rental Specialists at the locations and our Outside Rental Sales Specialists with processes and inventory. Gerald says, “Every day, we are working to be the best option for our customer’s heavy equipment needs.” Working with Crownstone Equipment since January 2024, Gerald has worked in the rental industry for 15 years, but this is his first experience overseeing a rental inventory in the heavy equipment industry.
When asked what he likes to do while away from work, Gerald says he likes to spend time with his wife and three children. “I try to make all their games and practices. I also enjoy all Philly sports (GO BIRDS), DJing events, motorcycles, and good food!” Something many of his co-workers may not know about Gerald is that early on he wanted to be a pilot. As a result, Gerald says, “I’ve flown Cessnas and other single-engine aircraft. I love it, but it’s an expensive hobby”. One of Gerald’s favorite memories is from a family trip to Tulum, Mexico—“my son turned one in Mexico; it was cool. It’s my favorite trip to date.”
Gerald says he has had many mentors in his life and career, “I’ve had awesome people in my professional and personal life. I was impacted the most by a gentleman named Mike Clark. He worked for 25 years as an outside attendant in a past company. He took so much pride in what he did. I was hired as a GM trainee, and he didn’t let me cut any corners. He made me mop the rear of a U-Haul truck until he felt he could leave me to my own devices. He taught me how you do anything is how you do everything!” Gerald says the favorite part of his job as Corporate Rental Manager is “I love helping solve customer needs. I also enjoy helping all our rental guys. We can work hard and have fun at the same time.” Gerald also mentioned that one thing he’s learned during his time at Crownstone is that “teamwork is imperative to ensure successful days ahead. I’ve learned so much from picking the brains of any and everyone here. If we all continue to invest in each other’s growth, we become strong, and it will resonate with our customer base.”
